Step into the amazing Sherborne Abbey, walk up the right isle, and you will encounter an actual swift box on a lectern. This one has a little secret: open the lid, touch the screen, and within you can view all 30 nest boxes on live feeds.

From this vantage point, you can observe our swifts raising their young, and enjoy what is usually hidden away many feet above our heads.

It’s quite a special privilege, being able to watch these secretive birds, especially as it is the only time they remain still in their sky-bound lives.

Other than this, they are on the wing 24/7.
